網の上の蜘蛛　Threads of Being

　府中市美術館市民ギャラリーBにて、展覧会「網の上の蜘蛛」を企画し、蜘蛛をテーマとした作品を発表しました。
数年前より、木村はジョロウグモの行動に着目し、屋外で観察し、その様子を記録してきました。本展では映像作品をはじめとし、ドローイングや、インスタレーション作品を展示しました。
映像は、アーティストの馬場淳氏（ACCI BABA）の協力を得て、2024年の秋に神奈川県で撮影したものです。

　主役となったジョロウグモは、春から秋にかけて活動し、秋の産卵期には個体も巣も最大の大きさに成長します。この時期、ジョロウグモは活発に捕食活動を行い、巣に引っかかった落ち葉などの無用のものを取りはらう習性があります。映像は、このジョロウグモの振る舞いを利用して撮影されています。

 また、インスタレーション作品として発表した糸電話は、ジョロウグモの認知能力から着想を得たもので、440Hzの音叉とジョロウグモの糸を用いて制作しました。 

Thread of Being was an exhibition centered on the Jorō spider (Trichonephila clavata) as its primary motif.

Since 2021, artist Kimura has focused on the behavior of Jorō spiders, conducting daily observations and documenting their activities.

The installation Spider Thread Telephone was inspired by the spiders’ cognitive abilities and created using a 440 Hz tuning fork and strands of Jorō spider silk.

Through these works, the exhibition sought to explore the perceptual world of spiders and to illuminate the fleeting moments in which the perceptual worlds of different species intersect with our own.
